Phil Karshis to the Roxanne Swentzell Tower Gallery. 

This is a very special show, because Phil Karshis is a very special person to me.

Back in 1975, a scared young girl entered the art department at Santa Fe High School, and the classroom of Mr. Karshis. He took her under his wing and changed her life forever. That child was me.

Not only did Phil nurture the artist in me, but he nurtured the human being. He has a way of making those around him feel important and valued, yet asked of us to look deeper for meaning beyond all that we see. For this I have no words adequate enough to speak of my gratitude.

Phil’s show is a wonderful example of this depth. Not only is it an exquisite exhibit of photographs, but it is a window into the eyes of a man whose quality of attention is masterful. We invite you to soak in this intimacy that Phil has graced us here to see.

To have the honor of my dear friend Karshis’s work in my gallery is truly a moment to celebrate. From this humble student of yours, and from all those whose lives you have touched,
